CLOTHING PERSONALITY MAKEOVER

Every woman has a Clothing Personality. This is the style she feels most comfortable wearing. If you have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear, chances are you are not dressing for your personality. Are you a Romantic, Dramatic, Ingenue, Natural, Classic or Gamin?

WHAT IS YOUR CLOTHING PERSONALITY?

ROMANTIC – THE ARTIST, CHARMING AND MAGNETIC PERSONALITY

Flowing and fluid dresses, waistline accentuated, soft and ornately feminine, draping, silks, floral, lightweight fabrics, soft cashmere and woolens, velvet and of course … chiffon; softly flirty with animal prints, feathers and large floral patterns, lavish detail, jewelry fine and/or ornate, diamonds, precious gems, floral designs.

DRAMATIC – THE AUTHORITY, BUSINESS OWNER, IN CONTROL, RISK TAKER

Sleek and straight lines, high fashion, tailored, severe and square sharp shoulders, angular, exotic dress, ensembles, put together looks, defined shapes, solids and bolds, geometrics, gabardine, brocade, metallic and abstracts, head-to-toe monochromatic schemes, bold jewelry, sleek and elegant, hat wearer.

INGÉNUE – THE DECORATOR, THE ACTRESS, SIMILAR TO ROMANTIC

Frilly frocks of tucks, ruffles and lace. Old fashioned feminine styles, Victorian looks, simple clothes in feminine fabrics. Lightweight, soft woolens, angora, cashmere, fine silk, fine cotton, crisp cotton, gauze or knit. Chiffon, organza, eyelet, open crochet knits for evening. Prints and florals, from small to large. Jewelry can be dainty or dramatic, detailed and lavish. Ornate evening wear, diamonds, silk scarves and flowers.

Refined textures such as silk, soft woolen fabrics, cotton, smooth knits, solid colors best. Chiffon or elegantly beaded fabrics for evening. Hounds tooth checks, herringbone patterns.

GAMIN – THE COMMUNICATOR, SPUNKY AND ENERGETIC, PUBLIC RELATIONS, SALES AND MARKETING

Über tailored, straight, sharp fine lines. Animated outline, snappy, chic, lots of crisp trims of contrast, braiding or beads. Eye-catching detail. Colorful, bold, sassy and smart. Boyish. Multicolor, animated, defined in shape, easily tailored, matte finishes light to moderate weights, oriental silks, crisp cottons, wool, etc. Sleek, crisp trims, tailored edges, angular necklines, asymmetrical hemlines, beading, metallics, asymmetrical shapes, expressive details. “Be-bop” caps and jaunty hats. Street-wise gamin youth were often the subjects of paintings and literature in the nineteenth century.

COMBINATION PERSONALITIES

A person can have a combination of two such as Romantic/Dramatic – I fall into this category. I am a Romantic dresser with a flair for the Dramatic. Another Romantic/Dramatic is Jane Seymour – a true Dramatic is Cher.

TAKE THE TEST – Take the test to determine your Clothing Personality. This can save you hundreds of dollars on your wardrobe and give you confidence for work and play. Workshops are available as well as personal consultations.

CLOTHING TIPS – Career clothing works best in solid colors with accessories containing pattern. Patterns tend to distract from presentation; the exception being tweeds.

IMAGE MAKEOVER – It is important to keep you rmakeup consistent with the activity that you are doing. If you areworking use daytie work makup. If you are in an evening affair evening makeup is appropriate, evening make up is not appropriate for the workplace. Learn the difference.

MAKE-UP – Make-up has been used by women since the dawn of time. In ancient times women and even men used make-up to enhance their features. In Egyptian history, both men and women painted their eyes with kohl. The eyes were considered to be the mirror of the soul. It was also a sign of wealth to have make-up on the face and body. In archaeological digs, there were found boxes with handles that resembled make-up bags, inside were the remains of ancient cosmetics. It seems women will always be women no matter the time-period.

5-MINUTE MAKE-UP

Start with a clean face. Always use sunscreen and moisturizer. For a very natural look – mix a little foundation with your moisturizer. Apply all over face, next apply a neutral eye shadow to entire eyelid, follow with soft eye liner to top and bottom lids, next apply mascara. Finish off with a dusting of powder, if desired, and apply gloss or lipstick. In 5 minutes you are ready and natural.

BLUSH TIP – Blush looks best in evening make-up, unless you are very pale; in that case a soft scarlet looks best on almost all skins tones.
